Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

Very many thanks to all of you who posted letters, emailed or put comments onto the EHDC planning website. In the end over 250 objections were recorded which shows the strength of feeling against this appalling development. The comments are  here: ‘planning application

What happens next?

The public consultation period has closed but the case officer, Mr Nick Upton, now has to assess the results of the public consultation and will continue to receive input from other consultees (one of which is the Highways Development Planning Department).

Because of the number and strength of objection it is highly likely (we understand) that the application will go to the District Planning Committee rather than being decided by the Planning Department.

A site visit will be arranged for the District Planning Committee – we will let you know as soon as the date is announced but these visits normally happen on a Friday.

Sometime after the visit there will be a District Planning Committee meeting where a decision will be made.

What can you do now?

If you want to do more then we would ask you to:

  • As soon as possible, write to Highways Development Planning at Hampshire County Council to explain why this development of 136 houses with a single access onto the A31 will be unsafe and cause even more disruption to traffic.  For example, site access junction, speed and volume of traffic on A31, pedestrian safety and any other concerns. The risk is that they will accept the developer’s case so they need to hear your view. Please contact Gemma McCormick by email highways.development.control@hants.gov.uk

or by letter at:

  •  We need as many people as possible to attend the site visit to let the District Planning Committee hear your concerns and objections first hand. As soon as we know the date we will put it up on this website – so please keep checking!
  • Give us your email address – if you would like to be updated by email on the latest news then please send us your email address using our contact form. We will only use your email address to send you news when something significant happens.
